9th Annual Orange Shirt Day

The Orange Shirt Society invites you to the 9th annual Orange Shirt Day (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) in Williams Lake, BC. Orange Shirt Day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

Everyone is welcome.

In the hometown of Orange Shirt Day, Williams Lake’s gathering includes impressive bareback horse racing demonstrations from the Elite Indian Relay Association. Indian Relay Racing is a spectacular, fast-paced sport that’s quickly gaining popularity. These action-packed demonstrations are not to be missed.


8:00am – Raising of the “Every Child Matters” flag at City Hall

Williams Lake Stampede Grounds:

8-11:00am – Free Pancake Breakfast (first 800 served) with Entertainment
11:30am – Indian Relay Races – First Heat
12:00pm – Lunch Trucks Open
1:00pm – Drummers Gather from 4 Directions of Arena
1:20pm – Blessing & Smudge from Elder
1:30pm – Welcome from MC & Dignitary Speeches
2:30pm – Time for Elders & Survivors
3:30pm – Indian Relay Races – Second Heat

Health and Wellness support will be available on site.
