Western Indigenous Pipeline Group – WLFN Member Survey

WLFN Members are asked to contribute to a survey regarding a potential partnership with Western Indigenous Pipeline group. Following the first engagement session held in September, two more community engagement sessions will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd: the first at noon with lunch provided, and the second at 5:30pm with dinner provided. The sessions will be held at the Council Chambers of the WLFN Government Building, 2561 Quigli Drive. Western Indigenous Pipeline Group (WIPG) is a wholly Indigenous owned and led organization that formed to represent the communities impacted by the Trans Mountain Pipeline and the Trans Mountain Expansion Project in BC and Alberta. Williams Lake First Nation is among many First Nations that have been petitioned by WIPG due to our relative proximity to the pipeline. Although the pipeline does not run directly through Williams Lake First Nation, WLFN was identified as a Nation potentially impacted by the Trans Mountain pipeline for numerous reasons. WIPG seeks to acquire a major stake in Trans Mountain for the benefit of Indigenous communities impacted by the pipeline. As stated on the WIPG website, “by purchasing Trans Mountain, Indigenous communities will ensure their environmental, community and economic goals are met.”
