July 30 July 31

Please save the date for the 2025 NStQ Citizens’ Assembly.

July 30 from 8AM – 8PM, and
July 31 from 8AM – 4PM,
at the Elizabeth Grouse Gymnasium in T’exelc (Sugarcane).

This annual event brings together the members of the Northern Secwépemc te Qelmúcw for a celebration of language, culture and tradition, and Treaty / Self-Government updates.

For thousands of years we have gathered – as Secwépemc, as T’exelcemc, Tsq’escen’emc, Xatsullemc, Stswecemc, and Xget’tememc. This July we continue the tradition!

Taking inspiration from the past, when our people gathered on the shores of Txet̕línten (Lac la Hache) every summer, we will come together this July to connect, celebrate our culture and tradition, and build a better future for our people.

Join us to:
• Make decisions to build a better world for our future generations.
• Know where we are going by remembering from where we’ve come.
• Hear from Kúkwpi7s, councillors, community leaders, Elders and youth.
• Discuss self-government, culture, language, and managing the territory.
• Discover the exciting things going on in your communities and share your ideas for how we can tackle the challenges ahead.
• Enjoy a traditional mini-powwow and entertainment, as well as important updates on the Tscentwecw Agreement and negotiations with BC and Canada while you connect with your community.
• Learn why freedom from the Indian Act and status as self-governing nations offers Northern Secwépemc people a bright, healthy future
