2026 Chief & Council Nomination Meeting

In August 2026, Williams Lake First Nation will hold an election for the positions of Chief and two members of Council. Eligible Voters of the Williams Lake First Nation are hereby notified that a Nomination Meeting will be held:

Date: July 14th, 2026
Time: Starting at 6:00pm and open for 1-1/2 hours
Location: Elizabeth Grouse Gymnasium, 2674 Indian Drive, Williams Lake, BC

A copy of the Voters List may be obtained from the Electoral Officer or the Administrator;

To hold the position of Chief of WLFN, a person must:

• be a Member of the WLFN;
• be at least 18 years of age as of the date of the Election;
• have been nominated by Members who are Eligible Voters;
• not have committed illegal or improper appropriation of WLFN funds as determined by a civil or criminal court of competent jurisdiction;
• not have been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada within ten (10) years prior to their nomination; and
• swear and sign the Oath of Office.

To hold the position of Councillor of WLFN, a person must:

• be a Member of the WLFN;
• be resident on a WLFN reserve (except that a maximum of two Councillor seats will be open to Members living off-reserve);
• be at least 18 years of age as of the date of the Election;
• have been nominated by Members who are Eligible Voters;
• not have committed illegal or improper appropriation of WLFN funds as determined by a civil or criminal court of competent jurisdiction;
• not have been convicted of an indictable offence in within ten (10) years prior to their nomination; and
• swear and sign the Oath of Office.

A copy of this Election Code may be obtained from the Electoral Officer or the Administrator;

Any Eligible Elector may nominate a candidate by a mail-in nomination and forms for this purpose may be obtained from the Electoral Officer or from the WLFN Administration Office, 2561 Quigli Dr. Williams Lake.

Time: 9:00am to 8:00pm
