Help Shape the Future of WLFN Forestry
Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) is inviting expressions of interest for the Board of Directors of WLFN Forestry Co. This is an opportunity to support responsible land stewardship and help guide the future of forestry operations on behalf of the Nation. We welcome interest from WLFN Members and individuals with experience in areas like forestry, environmental stewardship, business, governance, or cultural knowledge. You don’t need every skill—the goal is a balanced and effective Board. Directors typically serve three-year terms and contribute to key decisions that support WLFN’s long-term success.
Williams Lake First Nation (“WLFN”) is seeking expressions of interest from qualified individuals to serve as directors of WLFN Forestry Co., the general partner of WLFN Forestry Limited Partnership. WLFN Forestry Limited Partnership is responsible for managing forestry tenures and operations on behalf of WLFN. The Board of WLFN Forestry Co. plays a critical role in overseeing these activities, ensuring responsible land stewardship, and supporting the long-term economic success of WLFN.
Who Should Apply
WLFN encourages expressions of interest from:
- WLFN Members; and
- other qualified individuals with relevant experience and expertise
who are interested in contributing to the governance and success of WLFN’s forestry operations.
Skills and Experience
Director appointments are merit-based and guided by the needs of the Board at the time of appointment.
WLFN has established a Director Appointment and Board Composition Policy and a Competency Matrix to guide these decisions. These tools ensure that the Board has the appropriate mix of skills and experience.
The WLFN Forestry Co. Director Competency Matrix is appended to this notice and should be reviewed carefully by all prospective candidates. It sets out the core competencies and experience areas of the Board as a whole, which are considered in appointment new directors. Candidates do not need to possess all these skills. The objective is to establish and maintain a balanced and effective Board.
Relevant areas of experience include:
- forestry operations and tenure management
- environmental stewardship and sustainability
- Indigenous land stewardship and cultural knowledge
- business operations and financial oversight
- governance and board experience
Governance training and development opportunities may be available for interested WLFN Members.
Important Information
- Appointments are made by WLFN as shareholder in accordance with its governance policies.
- Expressions of interest are encouraged but do not create an entitlement to appointment.
- Appointment decisions are based on the overall needs of the Board, including maintaining continuity and effective governance.
- All appointments and reappointments are made considering the current Board’s collective strengths and weaknesses, as described in the Competency Matrix.
Term and Commitment
Directors are typically appointed for three-year terms.
For initial Board formation or transition periods, WLFN may assign shorter or longer initial terms in order to establish staggered appointments and support continuity of governance. Following this transition, standard three-year terms will apply.
Directors are expected to:
- attend regular Board meetings
- review materials and participate in decision-making
- act in the best interests of the corporation

Individuals interested in serving as a director are invited to submit:
- a brief statement of interest; and
- a summary of relevant experience
- on or before Monday, May 4, 2026
Submissions should clearly describe how the applicant’s experience aligns with the competencies identified in the appended Competency Matrix.
