New Playground on the way for Sugar Cane

WLFN is excited to announce that a new playground is on the way for the community of Sugar Cane.

The Nation has procured a grant for $191 thousand, which will go towards a complete rebuild of the playground, including all new features and a fully rubberized play surface. The funding comes from joint grants between the Government of Canada and the Province of BC, through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure program and the Rural and Northern Communities program.

Much of the old playground equipment has degraded to the point of becoming a hazard. The demolition process will commence in the spring to make room for a fully reimagined playground. WLFN members are asked to keep an eye out for public engagement sessions — leadership will be asking for public feedback on proposed play-structure options to ensure the future playground fits the needs and desires of the community.
