St. Joseph’s Mission Investigation Activity Summary for the period of November 06 to November 12, 2021

GeoScan finished up their investigations this past week, concluding what has been a long three months of hard work from the team. We would like to give them our utmost thanks for their dedication to this search. We are hoping to receive the preliminary results in mid-December.

The SJM team conducted one survivor interview this last week and have numerous more scheduled for the coming weeks. The most recent interview was with Bella Leon, from Anahim Lake. Several of these interviewees were referred on to us by Corrie Peeman who is the Residential School Coordinator at Ulkatcho First Nation.
The Trauma Training Workshop facilitated by Dr. Patricia Vickers was open to community members last week and was well attended. This week she is facilitating a similar workshop with WLFN staff. The sessions have been well attended and have included members from the Ministry of Child and Family Services, Three Corners Health Services, and School District staff.

A press release was issued last week to obtain any records, photographs, or information regarding the St. Joseph’s Mission School. We have had an encouraging response from the public already including photographs used to confirm information given in survivor interview.
